About the Artist:

Adrian Daniel “Viajero” Roman is a young Latino artist born and raised in New York City. Viajero comes from a long line of Latino artists. Being surrounded by the creative and artistic expressions of his family he began to be influenced by art at a very young age. His first encounter with art was when he was 4 years old. His oldest brother kept him away from his paint-by-numbers picture of Alfred E. Newman. On that day he swore going forward he would draw all of his own pictures. He credits his brother with spearheading his journey into the arts.

“Viajero” began as a character and soon evolved into the philosophy of his work as well as his nom de plume.

Viajero means "Traveler" in Spanish. We are all travelers on a journey through life, a voyage of infinite possibilities. The farmers, field workers, seamstresses, mothers, children and dreamers are all travelers of their own life’s journey. Through our travels we stop briefly to meet, love and share encounters with one another; but however precious, these moments are transient.

Viajero is a representation of our journey and its purpose is to carry the consciousness of timeless eternal being in the midst of a time-bound experience.

Family, culture, history, and LIFE are the inspirations of Viajero’s work. These are the ingredients of who he is. Aged or grainy wood is his current canvas of choice; however he has created pieces using various paper, clay and mixed media. The cracks, colors, textures and “imperfections” of the wood help support the stories he brings to life in his work.

Many of his pieces are in private collections in the United States and Puerto Rico and have been viewed in various galleries and art shows throughout the nation.
